1938 Stromberg Carlson Model 228-H

This is a 1938 Stromberg Carlson Model 228-H six tube radio with Magic-Eye tube. This set plays excellent across all 3 bands with long antennae. Broadcast plays well as is with good tone and volume. All knobs are original with the bandswitch knob has marks of different color - white (standard broadcast), red (police) and yellow (shortwave). The grille cloth is original. Speaker is in excellent condition - no holes or tears. The veneers on this set I believe to be Mahogany and are book matched on all sides, with the center being a Crotched Mahogany insert. This set is truly an extreme art deco work of art. The chassis has been restored with NOS Sprague capacitors - it looks like new. The cord is a reproduction cloth cord. The flaw to this set is where a candle holder scuffed the top but no wood damage - only minor lacquer damage. This set rates a 9.5 on a scale of 10 for its condition at its age. It measures 19.5"x8.75"x11.25".
